National Council on
Alcoholism and Drug Dependence of the East San Gabriel and Pomona
Valley's
alcohol and/or other drug prevention/treatment services are
specifically and uniquely designed to alleviate or prelude alcohol
and/or other drug problems in the individual, his or her family and
the communities of East San Gabriel & Pomona Valleys.
SERVICES
Information & Referral
NCADD provides factual
information on alcohol and other drugs as it relates to the use and
abuse of such substances. NCADD provides both direct and referral
services to adults and youth within the East San Gabriel & Pomona
Valleys. NCADD also maintains current listing of additional resources
within the community that offer assistance in referral and linkage to
other types of community services.
Confidential Alcohol and Drug Assessments
NCADD provides in-depth
assessments including level of care assessment to provide a baseline
of information regarding life domains, i.e., alcohol and /or other
drug use, medical, employment, legal, social, psychological, family,
environment and special needs. SAP (Substance Abuse Professionals)
requirements may be applied upon request.
Awareness & Education Presentations
NCADD provides
presentations to inform the public and community groups on subjects
related to alcohol/and other drugs and their related issues. Subjects
may include the psychological and physiological aspects of alcoholism
and drug addiction, the recovery process, family issues, social and
community issues, health related matters, and public policy.
Individual & Group Counseling
NCADD provides both
one-on-one and group interaction between participants and counseling
staff to implement specific objectives in the prevention, treatment, recovery plan to support, facilitate and
encourage changes within a participant’s life.
Interventions
NCADD provides certified
Interventionist to guide concerned people coming together using the
Johnson Institute Method of Intervention to present reality in a
receivable way to a person who is out of touch with reality due to
alcoholism and or drug addiction. Goals of Intervention are
prevention, education, early intervention with chemical dependency and
recovery for all. NCADD is part of the National Intervention Network.
Random Drug Testing
NCADD provides monitored
collection of urine specimens for the purpose of alcohol and/other
drug testing. Positive results are confirmed by outside laboratory
toxicologist.
PROGRAMS
Comprehensive Adolescent Treatment Program:
Choices & Changes
The goal of Choices & Changes is to promote the
well-being of high risk youth by educating them about the risks and
consequences of alcohol/other drug use and abuse and by helping them
to develop skills and a personal plan to avoid future problems.
Choices & Changes is a two-part intervention program for individuals
under the age of 21 who exhibit high-risk behavior, including
alcohol/other drug related use and abuse. The program was created to
provide 10 weeks of education-based intervention for all participants,
as well as, a second phase of more intensive intervention for
high-risk participants. A referral to the second phase of the program
will be based upon the initial intake, ongoing evaluation and a
one-on-one interview and assessment to be conducted at the conclusion
of the education phase.
Systematic Training for Effective
Parenting: STEP
Systematic Training for Effective Parenting
(STEP) has reached more than three million parents/caregivers over the
past two decades. This twelve weekly two- hour parent education study
group helps parents/caregivers learn effective ways to relate to their
children. By identifying the purposes of children’s behavior, STEP
also helps parents/caregivers learn how not to reinforce their
children’s unacceptable behaviors and how to encourage cooperative
behavior. The program offers concrete alternatives to abusive,
ineffective methods of discipline and control.
Relapse Prevention
Program
The objective of the Relapse
Prevention Program is to aid individuals in creating personalized
relapse prevention strategies as part of their recovery process. The
didactic education/groups consists of five phases; stabilization,
assessment, warning sign identification, warning sign management and
recovery planning. Participants learn what to do when you have the
urge to get high and principles of deactivating cravings. The program
design is two individual sessions, twelve weekly two-hour didactic
education/group sessions, attendance at self help meetings and random
drug testing.

Anger Management Program – Adult
The objective of the Anger Management Program is
to aid individuals in identifying, understanding, and communicating
Anger effectively. This twelve weekly two-hour education/group format
covers four phases; identification, accountability and responsibility.
Participants learn to recognize and manage their anger in appropriate
and acceptable ways. Participants develop personalized strategies in
behavior modification and control of choice.
Teen Anger Management Education: TAME
The objective of the Teen Anger Management
Education is to provide an educational framework for effective anger
management and conflict resolution skills for adolescents (ages 13-17
years). To assist adolescents to identify, address and process issues
that have led to ineffective behavioral coping skills. And to assist
adolescents to practice skill-building activities that will increase
self-efficacy and improved interpersonal and social relations. The
program structure is two individual sessions and twelve weekly 1.5
hour education/group sessions.
Family Reunification Program: FRP
The Family Reunification Program has been
designed for families that have been separated due to the use or abuse
of alcohol/ and or other drugs. The goals of the program are achieved
through a wide spectrum of services including but not limited to:
education/group sessions, parenting classes, individual counseling
sessions, random drug testing, attendance self-help support system and
auxiliary services when necessary. Participants can achieve a clear
understanding of their own use and or abuse and its impact on them and
their families. This six-month program provides a framework for
participants to develop strategies in relapse prevention, a support
system, self esteem building, establishing and defining boundaries
while learning to care for self. Participants are introduced to
vocational training opportunities and assisted in meeting requirements
of Department of Children and Family Services in retaining or
regaining custody of their children.
Alcohol and Drug Awareness Program: A&D
The objective of the Alcohol and Drug Awareness
Program is to aid participants (18 years and above) in understanding
the effects, outcomes, and consequences of abusing alcohol and/or
other drugs. Participant awareness is increased through twelve
two-hour educational/group sessions, random drug testing, attendance
at self help support system and two individual counseling sessions.
Participants are introduced to a variety of topics but not limited to
understanding chemical addiction, denial, relapse prevention,
addiction and family dynamics, and building a support system not to
use alcohol and/or drugs.
Alcohol and Drug Awareness for Teens: ADAPT
The Alcohol and Drug Awareness Program for Teens
(ADAPT) is designed to give adolescents (age 13-17 years) factual
information on the effects, the outcomes, and consequences of using
and abusing alcohol and/ or other drugs. The eight week 1.5 hour
educational/group sessions provide an opportunity for adolescents to
differentiate factual information from their learned beliefs related
to substance use and effects. The program design allows for a
parent/caregiver orientation to the Alcohol and Drug Awareness Program
for Teens in addition to information and resources for the families.
Adolescents also receive two individual counseling sessions and are
randomly drug tested during the program.
Tobacco
Cessation Program
The program consists
of eight sessions that involves smokers in interactive, adult learning
activities that enable them to prepare for quitting, develop their own
quitting plan, quit on Quit Day and then receive reinforcement for
four more sessions. Material from American Lung Association Freedom
From Smoking is used providing the best possible information and
supportive educational materials. The program offers a step-by-step
plan for quitting smoking. The program is based on the underlying
premise that smoking is a learned habit. Quitting, then, is a process
during which individual must consciously unlearn this automatic
behavior of smoking and substitute healthy new alternatives.

PC 1000 Drug
Diversion (Deferred Entry of Judgment)
Penal Code 1000 Adult Drug Diversion Education
Services are twenty weeks of educational services for persons who
participate as a condition of diversion. The goal of the Penal Code
1000 Drug Diversion Education is to develop participant awareness of
the use and misuse of mind and mood-altering drugs, to eliminate the
negative consequences of substance use and abuse, including future
arrest and incarceration. Participants attended 18 weeks of 2.5 hour
education/group sessions, random drug testing, attendance at self help
support system and two individual counseling sessions. Must be court
or probation referred.
Proposition 36
The goal of the Proposition 36 Program is to aid
the participant in understanding the effects, outcomes, and
consequences of continued use of alcohol and/or other drugs. Eligible
offenders receive up to one year of drug treatment followed by six
month of continuing care services. Participants must be court or
paroled ordered.
Drinking Driver Treatment Programs
The goal of the Drinking Driver Treatment
Programs is to increase the awareness of the effects of alcohol and
prevent an individual from operating a motor vehicle while under the
influence of alcohol or drugs. First and multiple offender programs
are offered and must be court or Department of Motor Vehicle required.
Domestic Violence Diversion Program
The goal of the Domestic Violence Diversion
Program for Batterers (DV) is to empower the participants with the
skills and tools necessary to become responsible and contributing
members of the community and to stop the domestic violence. This is a
52 week court and or probation only referred program.
